It is designed to take you through all the steps on creating a workbook with the given chapter's subject, then you have additional activities such as Apply Your Knowledge, Extend Your Knowledge, and Labs. The labs are where I can tell that the subjects were actually sticking, it gives you minimal instructions to do similar tasks within the chapter. Pros: Keeps you're attention, lots of hands on, very well written Cons: Not worth buying.
This was purchased for a college course. As a student, the book is very helpful and teaches you a lot you never knew about Excel. The downside is that the book has a lot of typo and incorrect pictures. Excel is out of date so anyone using anything more updated will find some things are changed or simply can not be done because they have been removed from newer versions. It is a good and helpful book, do not get me wrong. There are however points where the book says "A" and it is actually close to A but not A.
A new updated book is supposedly coming out soon so be sure to keep an eye out for it. As a text, not my favorite. I find it somewhat wordy and hard to follow.
Then again, it is so detailed that it doesn't miss much and includes every step. But I'm glad I rented it it's hugely expensive in my opinion to purchase! I needed for school so I can't say much about it!
I like the way the book starts from the very beginning and takes me step by step to help me really learn the program so I can be to draft complicated worksheets using formulas. Extremely helpful tutorials and labs, I used this all the time for my class and learned a lot!
